Volunteer Day is May 2nd - Earn Your Golden Ticket!

Earn a “golden ticket” to a private swim event the day before the pool officially opens by volunteering for a few hours to help get the pool ready for opening weekend! Volunteer Clean Up Day is Saturday, May 2nd, from 10 am until we finish (rain date Saturday, May 9th). Anyone old enough to push a broom, wipe down a cushion, or rake sand is welcome to participate. All volunteers receive a golden ticket for our Golden Ticket Swim Party on Friday, May 22nd from 6 to 8 pm. Middle schoolers and high schoolers can also count their time volunteering towards their service hour requirements.

So bring your shovels, rakes, wheel barrows, hoes, and garden hoses, and help your club get ready for opening day. Thanks to members Denise Pitts, who has graciously agreed to donate plants and lead this year’s beautification effort, and Duane Kimbrell who is bringing a load of
much-needed topsoil!

Be the first in the pool this season, volunteer on the 2nd and earn your golden ticket

New Board Members (from left) Kevin Corcoran, Kerry Dangerfield, and Peter Bayer.

Attendees to the 2014 Club General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 19th, elected three new members to the club’s Board of Directors. Joining the board for three-year terms are Peter Bayer, Kevin Corcoran, and Kerry Dangerfield. The three new board members replace three outgoing members whose terms expired this year: Deb Cannon, Denise Pitts, and Patti Powers.

We offer a big thank you to Deb, Denise and Patti for their work on behalf of the club during their terms and look forward to seeing them enjoying the pool as “civilians.”

Thanks also to John Ayers, Tim Metzinger, and Jim Williams who were also willing to throw their hats in the ring arun as candidates for the Board at the meeting. The club is stronger when such good candidates volunteer their time to serve in its leadership.

Following the General Membership Meeting, the new Board organized:

  • Peter Harsha, President
  • Karen Myers, Vice President
  • Baard Grindal, Treasurer
  • Kevin Corcoran, Secretary
  • Katherine Hawthorne, Special Activities
  • Kerry Dangerfield, Concessions
  • Mary Bolton-Owens, Swim and Dive Team
