Member Updates - June 13

Updates:

Our recent exterminator visit included targeted treatment of the weevil infestation within our sand pit. Although the surrounding area is experiencing a widespread infestation, our pest control service is successfully helping to mitigate this issue.

Members are reminded that we offer lap swimmers a lane or two from 1P-3P and 7P-9P daily, unless a team meet or special event prevents it. This may mean closing one of the diving boards, but the other should remain available. We encourage you to use a lap lane, and to be respectful of our members swimming laps.

We had a stall door collapse and break one of the toilets in the men’s changing room. It has been taped off and should be replaced very soon. Please let your boys know to stay out of the taped-off stall as there can be some sharp edges inside.

Team News!

Thursday, June 12th, the Dive team had our first meet of the season. We hosted Highland Park for a B meet. They invited 9 young divers, many who had never participated in a meet before, and GBD dove 21 kids of multiple ages. 10 new divers! Results were not recorded, but all the divers enjoyed themselves and everyone learned a lot. Our Dolphin diner was a success - many patrons came to support the meet, and we also served pool members who stayed to enjoy the nice weather. Next week GBD will compete against Great Falls.

• 6/18 - June Board Meeting 7:30P at Chantilly Regional Library. While these meetings are open to our members, if you wish to address the board, please email pool@greenbriar.org letting us know your name and your topic.

Member Updates - June 9

We’ve had some nice weather over the past week making the pool an enjoyable place to cool off. The warmer weather DOES tend to bring the insects out, though. We’ve had some reports of ticks but they turned out to be weevils (lots of them this year!), but so far there haven’t been any issues with stinging bugs like wasps or bees. We did have our exterminator out on May 31st for mosquito/tick/flea prevention. We’ll be contacting them to see if there’s anything to be done about the weevils. Having an outdoor pool can be a double-edged sword sometimes – you get the fresh air and the grass, but you also get the geese and the bugs.

The swimsafe tests are going well – this is the first year we’ve tried keeping an electronic record of the tests, so we’re still working out the best way to get things done. PLEASE be sure to fill out the swimsafe test form on paper at the pool before the test starts – think of it as the ‘ticket’ to take the test. This ensures that the guards know who is taking the test, and that the results get put into the spreadsheet afterwards.

Looking ahead - our Snack Bar will have School’s Out Sundaes again this year! Sundaes will be served starting at 3:45 PM until we run out! Buy your Sundae ticket from the snack bar for $3 starting at 3:00 PM. We have a Dive B meet on Thursday the 12th from 4:30 - 9:00 pm. The wings of the pool and the baby pool will be open during the meet

Pool Opens at Noon Today!

6/7/2025 - Swim Time Trials will be taking place this morning, so the pool club will open to our members at noon today.
