Dog Days of Summer Swimming

We hope our members enjoyed the Pool this past Labor Day weekend. It capped off the end of a great 2023 Pool season and we managed to dodge the extreme heat until the weekend. 

Once again, we are opening the Pool up for a 2-hour doggy paddle swim session prior to NV Pools shutting down all systems for the end of the season. On Saturday, September 9, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, members of the Board will be present to supervise a dog "open swim" at the pool.
 
If you want to bring your dog to the pool (no guest dogs are allowed), you must fill out and submit an online form (LINK TO FORM HERE) NO LATER than Friday, September 8, and agree to abide by the rules (below) and liability waiver (available at the online form link).  When you arrive at the pool, one of the Board members at the gate will ask you to sign a form indicating your acceptance of the rules:

RULES FOR DOG DAY SWIMMING:
*No people permitted in the pool (no lifeguards on duty)
*Pets in the main pool only (baby pool will be closed)
*The clubhouse and restrooms will be closed
*Pet toys that float are permitted (tennis balls or other fetch toys)
*Dogs must be at least one year old
*Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations
*Dogs must be well behaved
*Any disagreements between dogs will require the dogs to leave the pool area.
*Dogs must enter the pool willingly. Any member seen forcing, throwing or pushing their dog into the pool will be asked to leave immediately.

The Pool clubhouse and bathrooms will be closed, and we anticipate that all of the furniture will be stored away. The gate by the trash dumpsters will be open.

The Board is pleased to be able to offer this event for our members- both two and four legged again this year! We ask that everyone who participates in this event uses common sense and are courteous and respectful to one another. Please don't bring your dog if they have a history of being aggressive or experience anxiety in the company of other people and animals. We anticipate a strong turnout for this event, weather permitting, and the Pool deck is likely to be busy and full with people and animals so everyone will need to be aware and thoughtful of their dogs' behavior.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES / EXTRACURRICULAR EVENTS UPDATE

• Saturday, August 26th - Teen Late Night! 8:00PM - 11:00PM.
• There are no guests allowed on Labor Day (Closing Day).
• The Snack Bar usually runs out of food on the final Sunday. We will have a food truck at the pool on Labor Day and invite Mr Softee to the pool for the last two hours.
• Saturday, Sept 9th- DOG SWIM!! Save the date - we will send email and update the web page with more information next week.

PICKLEBALL WILL CONTINUE!!

The board is moving forward with plans for off-season pickleball! A new gate is scheduled to be installed shortly after the pool is closed for the season. We are in the process of discussing several issues with our members who play -- including a schedule, fees, and rules that the pool will implement in order to safely accommodate pickleball in the off-season. We will post additional information as it becomes available. If you are interested in off-season pickleball, please reach out to Charlie Passut (charlie@greenbriar.org).

CHANGES IN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Two of our directors (Matt Robinson and Joe Brown) have resigned recently, and the Board thanks them for their service. This means we have two new vacancies, as well as three additional board positions being up for election in February. We've had "short" boards in the past and we much prefer having a full board of directors, so we want folks to run for the five slots we'll have up for election!. If you're interested in joining the board, come to our next meeting at the County Library on Stringfellow road on September 20th. We'll have a portion of the meeting set aside to talk about what the board does, how we're organized, and answer any questions. We can fill the two vacancies immediately if anyone wants to get their feet wet, and of course all members are free to run for the five slots in February. Special Activities / Extracurricular Events Update

• Sunday, August 20th Last "Sundae" of Summer Break @ 1:00 PM
• Join us for a Sundae Fundae until the ice cream runs out! Only $3!
• We will scoop the ice cream and you will add the toppings of your choice. This event is a fundraiser for the Greenbriar Dolphins.
• Saturday, Sept 9th- DOG SWIM!! Save the date - details to follow!
• After season Pickleball! The rumor is true- the Board is currently working on implementing Pickleball at the pool's side lot courts for members outside of the pool season. Updates will be sent out as they become available, so stay tuned!
