2022 Pool Season Look-Ahead #1 (3/24/2022)

In the coming weeks, you will receive several communications from the Greenbriar Pool Club Board (Board) regarding updates pertaining to the planned operating status of the pool for the 2022 Pool Club season. Several e-mail communications have been sent already about the 2022 Membership Audit and maintenance fees. If you’re not getting these emails, please check your spam filters. You may need to name pool@greenbriar.org as a known sender. These communications will also be posted here on the Pool Club website. Please take note of the following items related to 2022 Pool fees, audit, and operational items:

  • 2022 Membership Audit: You must complete the audit by April 15, 2022 to ensure that you’ll be able to get access to the pool on opening day. After April 15, the pool administrator will be focusing on membership rentals, so there’s no guarantee that audit information submitted after that time will be processed by opening day. Click HERE to check that audit off your list. There is an in-person session at Greenbriar East Elementary scheduled on April 11 if you'd prefer to complete the audit in person.

  • 2022 Maintenance Fee: As a reminder, 2022 Maintenance Fees must be paid no later than April 15 to avoid a late fee. Make your payment here: https://greenbriar.org/member-login

  • Membership Rentals: Membership rental applications may be submitted between April 16 and May 13. Applications submitted during that window will guarantee renters access to the pool on Opening Weekend (if all fees are paid). Rental application submissions may resume after Opening Weekend, starting on Tuesday, May 31.

  • Pool Club-Owned Membership for Sale: The Pool Club has one (1) membership for sale. This membership will be sold via a lottery. The price for the membership is $2,500 (this price was set at our March Board meeting) plus the $450 maintenance fee for a total of $2950. If you or anyone you know wish to enter the lottery to purchase this membership, please e-mail pool@greenbriar.org by April 22. The lottery will be held the week of April 24th and you must complete the purchase within one week of being offered the membership.

  • Guest Pass Availability: Guest passes will be available for purchase through Member Splash starting May 1.

  • Snack Bar 2022 Re-Opening and Job Opportunities: We are excited to announce that the snack bar will be open again for the Summer 2022 season. While we will do our best to keep things "the same" there may be differences in what the snack bar is able to offer. If your child is interested in working at the snack bar this summer, please have them e-mail Tina Campbell, snack bar manager, at tmdannis@aol.com with an Introduction Letter. Youth must be pool members in good standing and at least 14 years old when the pool opens. Letters will be accepted until April 2, with interviews taking place after spring break.

  • Seasonal/Caregiver Long Term Guest Pass: This year is the first year where a member can buy a seasonal/caregiver long term guest pass. This pass will cost $80 for the season and names a specific individual – it’s not re-assignable. The seasonal/caregiver long term guest pass allows a family to add a temporary member to their account for one pool season. Examples include a nanny or babysitter, grandparents or other family members who live locally and will be accompanying your children to the pool, grandchildren who move in with you for the summer, etc. Memberships are limited to a maximum of two (2) long term guests per season. Members will see the option to add one (1) long term guest on the payment page in Member Splash. To add a second long term guest, please email the pool admin at pool@greenbriar.org or call 703-378-4421.

  • New CAPEX Projects (Playground and Side Lot): We will be replacing the wooden play structure in the sand play area to the south of the pool before the pool opens. We will be resurfacing the side lot and replacing the basketball hoops before the pool opens. We also are exploring options to put in two pickleball courts in the side lot that will be removable, but accessible to members during the season. We expect the new playground and side lot re-paving to be completed prior to the pool opening.

Important News: Member Splash Payments- NOW BEING ACCEPTED! Please read below for important updates/changes from the Annual Board Meeting.

We had approximately 15 members (including the Board) at our annual Membership meeting on February 16th at Greenbriar East. Some important notes from the meeting:

  1. There will be no increase in the maintenance fee for 2022, but it’s likely that there will be an increase in 2023 to compensate for rising costs and to defray the expenses we will incur this year to repair and repurpose the side parking lot and to replace the wooden play structure in the sand lot to the south of the pool. Members may begin paying the 2022 Maintenance Fee on March 1.

  2. Approximately have the memberships have completed the audit process. You must complete the audit by April 15 to ensure that you’ll be able to get access to the pool on opening day. After April 15, the pool admin will be focusing on membership rentals and payments of the membership fees, so there’s no guarantee that audit information submitted after that time will be processed by opening day, although everyone will do their best.

  3. Two of the three proposed bylaws changes passed (and the bylaws have been updated and posted to the web site):

    1. In the future, any voluntary closing of the pool for more than 20 consecutive days will require a vote by the membership in the annual membership meeting or a special membership meeting.

    2. We’ve formalized the membership audit, requiring each membership to be audited at least once every six years. This will ensure that the membership roster stays current and that everybody on a membership actually resides with the owners of the membership.

    3. The third bylaws change, permitting a member to grant his proxy for a single membership meeting to another member, did not pass.

  4. We intend to open the snack bar this season, with Tina managing it (Thanks, Tina!!!). You can expect that the prices will be higher due to the increased cost of supplies.

  5. The election for the Board gave us five new members and a full board, The website has been updated. The board met and selected the officers for the 2022 season:

President - Tim Metzinger
Vice President/Communications - Matt Robinson
Secretary/Special Events - Bethany Quick
Treasurer - Jeff McCurry
