The Board Is Now Complete!
At our February Annual Meeting, we held elections for three board positions. We had five candidates, and two of them were tied for third place - Charlie Passut and Angie Landers. This is the first time anyone can remember where we had a tie for a board seat, and at the meeting it was announced that we'd figure out a way to 'solve' the tie by the March meeting.
But in late February, Bethany Quick tendered her resignation from the Board. She had one year left to serve on her term, through February 2026, and will be missed by the Board and the membership. Since the bylaws allow the President to appoint a member to fill a vacant position on the Board (until the next Annual Meeting), our problem of the tie for the third board seat was partially solved - we had two vacant seats, one that would be valid until February 2028 (the 'elected' term) and one that would be valid until February 2026 (the 'appointed' term). So I asked Angie and Charlie (independently) if they had a preference for a particular term. BOTH of them, independently, yielded to the other, saying they'd be happy to run again in 2026. I think this attitude of putting the organization ahead of individual desires is EXACTLY what a club like ours needs, and reflects well upon the new Directors, the club, and the membership.
Of course, we still had the issue - who gets the 2028 term and who gets the 2026 term? So I flipped a coin, and Charlie will have the 2028 term and Angie will have the 2026 term. Angie’s appointment was confirmed by the Board.
In our March meeting the board will work out the 2025 Officers and the additional responsibilities assigned to each Director, and the web site will be updated.
