Commentary from the Pool Board

As the Pool season winds down, we want to thank all of our members for another great season. We hope our members and their guests can get out these next two weeks to enjoy the Pool facilities and encourage you to thank the NV Pools staff and lifeguards for their good work this summer. We welcome those who are interested to join our next Board meeting, to be held on August 24 at 7:30pm if you care to share any feedback or otherwise listen in on the Board's open session, please e-mail pool@greenbriar.org to let us know to expect you.

Please Clean Up After Yourself and Your Guests!

NV Pools staff has noticed again that Pool members are leaving trash behind when leaving the Pool. Items the staff has reported having to place in the trash includes soiled diapers, food wrappers, drink bottles, and other waste. Please be courteous and respectful to our staff and other members by disposing of all waste you create while visiting the Pool. An easy mantra for this, "Pack it in, pack it out." We have plenty of trash cans around the facility for our members' use for this reason.

• Saturday, August 27th 8 - 11p - Adult Late Night- Not catered, BYOB, and local DJ favorite (and Pool member) Baard Grindal. Please note the event ends at 11p in lieu of 12a.

As the 2022 Pool Season comes to a close, make sure to enjoy your LAST pool day of the season on Monday, September 5th. The pool will be open until 6pm. And just a friendly reminder that guests will not be allowed during Labor Day weekend.

Lifeguard Appreciation Day

Sunday, August 31, is the official "Lifeguard Appreciation Day". Please be sure to let our guards know how much you appreciate the work they do!

Reclaim your things from the Lost and Found!

Items still in the Lost and found on Monday, August 1, will be donated to Charity. Please visit the pool this weekend and claim any of your items!

Amenity Updates

We now have pickleball rackets and balls available at the front desk to check out for our members' use. Try out this fun new amenity. If you don't see the nets up while at the Pool, simply ask the NV Pool guard staff at the front desk to assist you in setting up the nets. During the off-season, the club will consider hosting an internal Pickleball league for our members with a structured way to compete and possibly have multiple classes for competitors and a championship tournament for the next season. We will also be looking at the possibility of having the basketball and pickleball courts open and available to members beyond the normal pool season. This is not an easy choice as we have to look at implications for our insurance coverage, and will need to work out how to make the facility available to members only without having any staff. We will continue to keep the membership informed as our research continues.

Please take care of our facilities!

We've had shower curtains torn in the bathrooms lately. They've been replaced, and the damage may have been accidental. Because deliberately damaging pool facilities is something that will cause the loss of pool privileges, PLEASE let the guards know if you accidentally damage something, so that it can be repaired/replaced, and so that there's no question that it was an accident.

Amenity Updates

Our newly painted pickleball (+nets) and basketball sport courts are now available for our members and their guests in the side parking lot. Members may utilize the side lot sport courts on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Board has asked the NV Pool staff to set up the nets daily to make them easier to access for our members. We now have pickleball rackets and balls available at the front desk to check out for our members' use. Try out this fun new amenity. Lost and Found is FULL

We’ve gotten a LOT of clothing and toys in our lost and found, and we’ve far exceeded our ability to sort and store it all. We will be donating it all to various charities on August 1st. So PLEASE come by the Pool and search through the lost and found (and ask the guard at the desk if you can’t find it) before Friday, July 29.

• Rafternoon on July 16 - We are letting folks use rafts at the moment but will schedule another Rafternoon this season.

• Our Movie Night for July 16 will be rescheduled due to weather.

Swim / Dive Team Updates & Upcoming Events

Please BE AWARE of the following Swim Team events and plan accordingly:

• Friday, July 15 - Swim Team Pep Rally 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. The pep rally will be held in the grassy area with the umbrellas.

• Monday, July 18 Swim Meet against Poplar Tree 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The pool will be closed to the general membership during the meet. Members in good standing may use Brookfield Pool under our reciprocity agreement

• Tuesday, July 19- Dive Meet against Chesterbrook 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Only the wings of the pool are open to the general membership during the dive meet.

• Thursday, July 21- Dive Meet against OSRC 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm. This was rescheduled from July 14. Only the wings of the pool are open to the general membership during the dive meet.
