Welcome to Week 12 of the 2024 pool season!

A few administrative matters to address: In the last ten days we’ve had to close the pool multiple times due to people getting sick in the pool or on the pool deck. Any emesis on or in the pool requires a significant amount of work and time until the pool is “healthy” again for swimmers. Parents - please take extra care with your children, particularly if they don’t feel well or tend to go nuts at the snack bar.

A word about weather... Everyone is aware that we close the pool when lightning or Thunder is detected. But when storms are predicted before the pool even opens (such as our Tornado Watch on 8/9/2024, we may delay the opening of the pool, rather than opening only to close right away for what could be hours. Similarly, while the pool is open when it rains, if there's nobody at the pool in the evening hours, we may close an hour or two early. We take these actions because we consider our staff part of the pool club family, and we don't want them to waste their time or put them at risk driving in horrible weather.

Please note the pool hours will change on Monday, August 19th when FCPS is back in session. The pool will open at 4 pm and close at 8 pm on weekdays and Saturday-Sunday pool hours are 11 am to 9 pm. No guests are permitted on Labor Day Monday, September 2nd.

Upcoming Events for the Remainder of the 2024 Pool Season

Back to School Tie Dye Event at the Pool - Thursday, August 15th from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm (grassy area at the back of the pool). All materials provided EXCEPT the item that you would like to tie dye!
Adult Late Night - Saturday, August 17th is Adult Late Night at the pool 8 pm till midnight. This event is for 21+ members only and guests are permitted. Food catered by Anita's, a treat from Nothing Bundt Cakes, bottled water and ice-cold beers. We will also have a fun mixed drink. Feel free to bring a beverage of your choice.
Rafternoon - Sunday, August 18th will be a great day to spend at the pool with a Rafternoon starting at 3 pm. The snack bar will be offering a back-to-school sundae special. Watch social media for details!
Board Meeting - Wednesday, August 21st at 7:30 PM at the Cale Community Center (4615 String fellow Rd. Chantilly, VA 20151) Anyone who wishes to address the board on any topic should send an email message to board@greenbriar.org asking to be added to the agenda and a sentence describing the topic. All are welcome to observe board meetings; however, if you wish to address the board, you must give prior notice.
Teen Late Night Saturday, August 24th from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Guests are permitted.
Rafternoon - Sunday, September 1st will be a great day to spend at the pool with a Rafternoon starting at 3 pm. There will be another snack bar Rafternoon special. Watch social media for details!
