Greenbriar Pool Club - In The Know-Week of 8-18-25
There are just two weeks remaining in the 2024 pool season. Be sure to make the most of it and enjoy some final poolside fun before the season wraps up!
First to address an important administrative matter. It has come to the Board's attention that some children are taking the swim safety test multiple times within a week, and in certain cases, multiple times in a single day. Recently, there was an incident where a child was tested twice in one day, resulting in a situation that required intervention by NVPools staff. Such repeated testing poses safety risks for both the swimmers and our staff members. To ensure the safety and well-being of all involved, we ask that parents do not request or permit their children to take the swim safety test more than once a day. Developing the necessary skills for water safety takes time, and frequent retesting can undermine this process. Effective immediately, the NVPools staff has been instructed to limit swim safety tests to once per day per child. Should the frequency of swim safety testing continue to be problematic, the Board may consider implementing additional rules to address the issue.
In other news, once again, we are opening the pool up for a 2-hour doggy paddle swim session prior to NV Pools shutting down all systems for the end of the season on Saturday, September 7. Members of the Board will be present to supervise a dog "open swim" at the pool. If you want to bring your dog to the pool (no guest dogs are allowed), you must agree to abide by the rules (below) and complete a liability waiver which will be sent out closer to the doggy paddle swim day.
RULES FOR DOG DAY SWIMMING:
*No people permitted in the pool (no lifeguards on duty)
*Pets in the main pool only (baby pool will be closed)
*The clubhouse and restrooms will be closed
*Pet toys that float are permitted (tennis balls or other fetch toys)
*Dogs must be at least one year old
*Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations
*Dogs must be well-behaved
*Any disagreements between dogs will require the dogs to leave the pool area.
*Dogs must enter the pool willingly. Any member seen forcing, throwing, or pushing their dog into the pool will be asked to leave immediately.
The snack bar would like to thank the membership for all their support this summer! We will work hard to keep you fueled till the end of the season. However, as summer comes to an end the snack bar might run out of your favorite flavor of an item and we appreciate your understanding if it is out of stock. Thank you!
Finally, a reminder that pool hours will change on Monday, August 19th when FCPS is back in session. The pool will open at 4 pm and close at 8 pm on weekdays and Saturday-Sunday pool hours are 11 am to 9 pm. No guests are permitted on Labor Day Monday, September 2nd.
